Tagging notes

Tags are labels or categories that you can assign to sticky notes to group them and locate them easily. It is one of the most useful features of Notezilla. By adding tags, you can arrange your notes by topics, projects, contexts, or anything else that is important to you. You can also assign multiple tags to a single note. So that note will appear under all those tags!

Assigning tags

To assign tags to a note, open it in the Notezilla app on your phone. Click on the pencil icon located on top of the note.

The tags box will open where you can type the tag and hit the ‘Done’ button. To add more than one tag, separate each tag with a comma.

The next time you want to assign the same tag to a new note, click on the icon and select the particular tag from the list below.

Removing tags

To remove the tag from a note or remove one of the multiple tags of a note, click on the same icon, and select the tag from the list and hit the ‘Clear’ button.

Viewing notes by tag

To view all notes under a particular tag, go to the main navigation menu and select the option ‘By tags’ under the View Notes bar. Select the tag, and all notes containing that tag are listed.

Locking a Sticky Note
To lock a Notezilla sticky note for the first time, open the note in your phone app. Click on the three-dotted lines at the top right corner. The options will appear where you will find the option to lock the note.

Clicking on that option, a window will open, asking you to set a master password (as mentioned earlier). This password must be used to unlock and re-lock all notes in the future.

Once you set the password, the note will be locked and be unreadable until you unlock it again. In the notes list, too, it will appear as “Locked note.”

Unlocking a Note
To unlock a locked note, click on the same icon. Here you will get two options, unlock the note temporarily or remove the note lock permanently.

Changing the master password
To change the master password, go to the Main Navigation menu and click on ‘Settings. Select the ‘Notes’ tab and click on the option, “Set master password.”

Here you can set a new master password.

Forgot master password?

You need to be very careful with this password since locked notes cannot open without it, and your data will be inaccessible.

But you can try retrieving the note data from the Notezilla backup folders. Note that this new password will not work on the existing locked notes since their password was different and not traceable.

Organizing sticky notes with Notezilla

To create a new memoboard in Notezilla, go to Notezilla settings option in the main menu.

Open the Folders tab and click on the + (plus) sign at the top to create a memoboard.

Long pressing on a particular folder will give you other options like deleting it, moving this folder inside another folder, renaming it, etc.

Clicking on the three dots at the top right corner will allow you to empty the trash folder instantly, i.e., all the notes in your trash memoboard will be deleted at once.

How to share a note with my contacts?

Exchanging of sticky notes between users happens over the Notezilla.Net cloud. To create a new contact, you are first required to create a new Notezilla.Net account from the Notezilla app.

To create a new cloud account, go to the Sync option from the main navigation menu of the app. Select the option to create a new cloud account. Enter the details, and you’re all set.

Step 1: Go to Contacts window

Select a sticky note in the Notezilla app and click on the three-dotted lines at the top right corner. Sticky notes Options will appear where you will find the option to ‘Send to contact.’

Step 2: Add a contact

A ‘Contacts’ window will be displayed. Click on the plus(+) sign and add a new contact. Enter the contact’s email id.

An email is sent to your contact, requesting their approval. You can then proceed to send sticky notes to that contact. If your contact had already added you to his/her contacts list & you had already approved him/her, then you will be automatically approved when you add that person as your contact.

If your contact also has the Notezilla app on their phone, they will receive it there directly. If not, they will receive your note as an email.

Managing contacts & groups

Similarly, you can edit/delete contacts, edit/delete groups from the same ‘Contacts’ window. Just long-press on a contact name, and you will find the options.

Sticky Notes on home screen

It is a beneficial feature since your important notes are right at the screen. You do not have to search for the note when required. Also, you can remove the note once the task is completed, and attach a note for the next job. This way, you will be reminded of your tasks and deadlines to make sure you achieve your goals on time.

But the home screen space is limited. How will I stick multiple sticky notes on the screen? We have a fix for this too. Instead of a few notes, you can attach the whole Notes Browser on the home screen. The notes browser size will be only 2*2, so it does not occupy much space. Scroll your notes conveniently from there!

How do i do this?

It works the same way as to how you usually add other widgets on the phone screen. Just long-press on the phone’s home screen and choose the ‘Widgets’ option. Scroll down to find Notezilla there. You can choose to add the sticky note or the Notes Browser widget, as mentioned earlier.

The phone now feels like a portable PC with sticky notes on the desktop!

Although this feature is currently available only for Android users, we will work on this feature for iOS as well.
