Cursor position changes when going to edit mode in a sticky note

Question

When I open an existing note and then click the "space" bar to enter edit mode, most of the time the cursor jumps back a few characters  from where the cursor is when I press the key. Is this normal?

This happens when using markdown editor with some text formatted in markdown.
Because Bold Text changes to *Bold Text* when editing, you will see the cursor shifting little bit.
